Week 2

 Summary

After thoroughly analyzing the Project Design Proposal, we deciding to produce a detailed report as the final deliverable rather than a working pro type.  The main reasons are listed below.

    • The projected budget was much higher than we anticipated.
    • The time required to research and learn the expertise required to build a fully functional drone and  building will exceed 7 weeks.
    • Focusing on the research aspect of this project will create a strong foundation for development and construction of the drone for future projects (i.e Senior Design).

  1. In week 2 Ajin and I talked to Jay Bhatt and he provided several helpful resources that can be useful for the project. He also instructed us about seeking help from Daniel and Andrew in mechanical engineering department.

  2. As Bini explained, we met with Jay Bhatt to discuss about our Coconut harvesting drone project. He was really excited to talk about it and he showed us several ways to gather some background info. For example, he showed us how to use Google advanced search to find important info from credible sources. Later he took me to Daniel's office where we discussed about some technical challenges that we might face during this project. For example, the flying time seems to be an issue and Daniel urged us to take a look at it. He instructed me to solve the problem first and then move on to building the actual drone. Later, Daniel took Mr. Bhatt and myself to the 'restricted area' where drones are made. It was really fascinating to see drones of different sizes and this gave me a basic idea on how to move forward with our project. I would like to thank Mr. Jay Bhatt and Mr. Daniel for all their help and support.
